The Dallas Cowboys will visit the Las Vegas Raiders for an NFL regular season game on Monday. Both teams have both had disappointing seasons so far, but the contrast in their play is striking. Dallas has one of the league's most potent offenses, averaging 29.2 points per game (4th in the NFL) behind a dynamic passing attack. They have been able to score in bunches, especially at home, and they have kept games close even when their record is under .500.
The Cowboys' recent form is mixed: they have alternated wins and losses through October but scored at least 25 points in most games. Their defense has been solid, generating turnovers and limiting opponents. Las Vegas, by contrast, has struggled mightily. The Raiders rank last in scoring (15.4 ppg) and near the bottom in yardage. Offensively they have been unable to sustain drives or put points on the board; their last win came several weeks ago.
The offense has turned the ball over frequently (12 interceptions) and has missed big plays. The Raiders did have a defensive highlight early on – edge rusher Maxx Crosby has generated pressure in bursts – but overall Las Vegas has given up large point totals and looked outclassed by better opponents.

Dallas's strengths are clear. Quarterback Dak Prescott has continued to play at a high level, already throwing 17 touchdown passes. He consistently moves the offense and makes big plays, and he will test Las Vegas's secondary with deep throws. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs (the statistical leader “J. Williams”) has also been effective, producing 8 touchdowns on the ground and keeping the offense balanced. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (Dallas's top receiver) has been the primary target, accumulating nearly 500 yards even with modest touchdown totals.
In Las Vegas, no offensive player has stepped up consistently. The Raiders lack playmakers of equivalent caliber; their receiving corps has no true #1 threat, and the offensive line has allowed too much pressure. Rookie running back Ashton Jeanty is their leading rusher but with only modest yardage, and quarterback Justin Fields (or the current starter) has thrown 12 interceptions versus 11 touchdowns.
Dallas has a clear edge. The Cowboys' offense is firing on all cylinders, while the Raiders have been shut out in recent games (and only once reached 20 points this season). Las Vegas will need a near-perfect game defensively and a breakout performance on offense from someone like Jeanty or tight end Brock Bowers (who has been their most targeted receiver) to stay in it.
