Spain will look to regain complete control of their EuroBasket fate when they clash with minnows Cyprus on Sunday afternoon. The defending champions, who are led by NBA’s Santi Aldama, have a much-changed squad from the one that won the trophy in 2022. This move backfired in Matchday 1 when they suffered a surprising 14-point defeat against Georgia. Sergio Scariolo will look for an immediate response against Bosnia & Herzegovina on Saturday before facing Cyprus.
Cyprus, as expected, is struggling to cope with the high competition at this event. They opened their campaign with a disappointing 91-64 loss against Bosnia & Herzegovina and now have an uphill battle to bounce back against Greece. However, their struggles are unsurprising, considering they are the last team in the FIFA EuroBasket Power Rankings. A win could move them out of this unwanted spot.
