This Sunday in Liga MX, we have a heated matchup when Cruz Azul and Tigres face off. Cruz Azul will be playing their home games this season at Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, having not renewed their agreement to play at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario. At that stadium, during the Clausura tournament, Cruz Azul already defeated Atlas 2-0 and Puebla 1-0.
Both Cruz Azul and Tigres are serious contenders to compete for the title until the very end, rivaling Toluca, América, and Monterrey in the betting odds. Tigres, in fact, were the runners-up in the last Apertura tournament, and in this Clausura tournament, they have had a season almost identical to that of their Sunday rivals. Cruz Azul and Tigres are currently second and third in the standings, respectively; both have earned 10 points out of a possible 15 and have scored 9 goals in 5 matches.
The history of matches between these two teams has been unkind, with games between these two historic clubs often ending in a 1-1 draw. That was the result of the last three Cruz Azul-Tigres matches, and it has happened five times since 2014.

CF Cruz Azul - Tigres UANL: Form Analysis
Cruz Azul and Tigres, both playing midweek, not only advanced but also crushed their respective opponents in the first round of the Concacaf Champions League. Cruz Azul traveled to frigid Canada on February 4th and defeated Vancouver FC 3-0. In between, they drew 1-1 against Toluca in Liga MX, and in the return leg, they once again thrashed the Canadian club, crushing them 5-0 with a hat trick in 62 minutes from the young Argentine striker Luka Romero.
Tigres also traveled north to face Forge FC, where they played to a 0-0 draw. The Tigres, with goals from five different players, including Ángel Correa from the penalty spot, thrashed Santos Laguna 5-1 at home and then finished the job in the return leg, defeating Forge 4-1, justifying their status as heavy favorites in the pre-match betting.

CF Cruz Azul & Tigres UANL Squad Analysis
Guido Pizarro, the current Tigres manager and former player, praised the way his team dominated the game against Forge; he said his team didn't allow Forge, who played very defensively, to make any transitions. But Pizarro must be even happier about the debut of Uruguayan striker Rodrigo "El Búfalo" Aguirre, who scored the first goal of the match with a header and the second with a left-footed shot to the far post. Also in that final Tigres match, Brazilian Joaquim had a very solid game in defense and also contributed a goal.
Cruz Azul fielded a reserve team to complete the formality against Vancouver; the team that faces Tigres on Sunday is expected to be more similar to the one that faced Toluca. That time, Rodríguez, Levy, and Paradela formed the attack, closely followed by a four-man midfield, including Rotondi.

Our CF Cruz Azul vs Tigres UANL Prediction
The odds of the current runners-up beating Cruz Azul shouldn't be overlooked, especially since Guido Pizarro's men have already won both of their away matches this season, by a score of 2-1, against Atlético San Luis and León.
Draws have been a recurring result between these teams in recent years, so a sensible bet might include removing the draw possibility from our betting selection.
