The 2021 Leagues Cup champion faces the reigning 2024 champion, Columbus Crew, when the MLS team faces León of Liga MX in the 2025 Leagues Cup, a match that has never happened before.
León is now mathematically out of the running for the top four spots in the Leagues Cup, which grants a place in the quarterfinals. However, Columbus Crew always seems to have the right team for international competitions; They earned four points out of a possible six, losing to Mexican champion Toluca and then winning by scoring three goals against Puebla before the 40-minute mark between Amundsen, Rossi, and Herrera.
