The Sabres (48-23-8, 25-10-4 Home) will host the Columbus Blue Jackets (39-27-12, 19-16-4 Away) today at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, NY, with the puck scheduled to drop at 7 p.m. EST. Coverage will be provided by ESPN+.
At this late stage in the season, both teams could benefit from a win. Columbus needs to win in order to keep its playoff hopes alive, as the Blue Jackets are two points behind Ottawa for the last wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. As for Buffalo, the Sabres are currently the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic Division but have just a two-point lead on the Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens.
Buffalo comes into this game having won its last two games. They last played on Wednesday, beating the New York Rangers on the road 5-3 after beating Tampa Bay at home 4-2 on Monday. Columbus is also fresh off a win, having beaten Detroit on Tuesday in a shootout, 4-3. That win stopped a six-game losing streak from stretching on to seven.
This will be the third time these two teams have faced off this season. Columbus won both prior contests, taking the first on October 28 in overtime, 4-3, and the second in January, 5-1.
