The Philadelphia Phillies (18-22) and the Colorado Rockies (16-21) will play the final game of their 3-game series Sunday afternoon. The game will be a rubber match as each team has taken one of the first two.
Colorado won game one, but almost found a way to blow the game. They led 7-2 going into the 8th inning before their bullpen imploded. Brennan Bernardino allowed 3 runs while recording just one out. He was followed by Jimmy Herget, who allowed 2 runs in 1 inning of work. Luckily, the Rockies made the most of the extra innings and took home a 9-7 victory. The win marked two in a row for the Rockies, as they had just previously defeated the Mets. However, those two wins are the only ones they have picked up this month and currently sit at 2-6 in May.
The Phillies bounced back from that 9-7 loss on the back of Alec Bohm, who returned to the lineup yesterday. Bohm went 3-4 with 2 home runs and a double. He finished with 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Aaron Nola pitched decently but did not factor into the decision in the 9-3 win. The win allowed Don Mattingly to avoid his 1st losing streak as the Phillies new manager.
The Phillies will look to take this last game before heading on the road for 6 games beginning Tuesday in Boston.
