After a 6-0 victory in game one of the 4-game series, the Reds doubled their run output and won game two 12-0. Rookie, Rece Hinds, has had a phenomenal start to his big-league career in this series. He has gone 5-8 with 3 RBIs and came a single short of the cycle in last night’s game. In game one, Reds starter Andrew Abbott, pitched a gem by going 7 innings of shutout work while striking out 8. Game three will feature the pitching matchup of Kyle Freeland (0-3, 6.62) of the Rockies against Frankie Montas (4-6, 4.19) of the Reds. It has been a disappointing last 3 starts for Freeland who has gone 19.2 innings allowing just 3 earned runs and not being able to pick up a win. For Montas, he has also been solid over his last 3 starts. He has allowed just 5 runs in 17 innings. His last start, which came against the Yankees, was where he was able to pick up his 4th win of the season as the Reds won 8-4.

The Rockies have been abysmal all season and we can not confidently back them in this game. While Kyle Freeland has been overdue for a win, the Rockies offense just cannot produce enough to help him out. We think this one will be more of the same as Frankie Montas has been strong in his last 3 outings including the win over a tough Yankee team. This could end up be a lower scoring affair but the Reds have the advantage on offense and with a bit better bullpen.
