The NL West looks to be the Dodgers' division to win, as they lead the Diamondbacks by 7.5 games and only got better at the trade deadline. Arizona still has hopes at catching them and will continue that quest tonight when they begin a 3-game set with the division rival Colorado Rockies. These teams met for 7 total games back in May, and the Diamondbacks were able to take 5 of those 7 games.

Colorado comes into this series struggling a bit. They have lost 5 of their last 6 games and are averaging just 3.5 runs per game over their last 4 games. They are worst in the league in combined ERA, so if they are not scoring runs, it is nearly impossible for them to win games. Gabriel Hughes will draw the start for them tonight and is coming off a rough outing against the Rays. However, previous to that last start, he had held opponents to just 9 runs over his last 24.1 innings of work.

He will be countered by the Diamondbacks’ Michael Soroka. He has been stingy over his last 15 innings. In those innings, he has allowed only 2 runs and has struck out 13 total batters.
