World’s No.3 Alexander Zverev will face Flavio Cobolli of Italy, seeking his second consecutive grass-court semifinals on Friday at the 2025 Halle Open Championships.
Zverev clinched his 8th quarterfinal of the year after outgunning Lorenzo Sonego of Italy 3-6 6-4 7-6(2). Zverev dropped the first set but rallied back into the match by winning the bulk of his 61 first-serve points in the second and third sets. The German also fired 10 aces and broke Sonego once. He will have a chance to punch his ticket to the semis if he hurdles another strong Italian opponent in Flavio Cobolli.
Cobolli earned his 9th win in 10 matches on Thursday as he hacked out another three-set victory over Denis Shapovalov of Canada 7-6(2) 4-6 7-6(5). Less than 48 hours since surviving Joao Fonseca of Brazil 5-7 7-6(3) 7-6(8), Cobolli delivered a gutsy performance against the former top-10 player Shapovalov. The Italian recorded 48 points on his first serves and 21 on his second, while breaking four times.

Our Flavio Cobolli vs Alexander Zverev Prediction
Why should you bet on Flavio Cobolli to cover +3.5 games? (Win $125 on a $100) – Cobolli will either win or lose by not more than 3 games against Zverev. The Italian has been on a tear as of late, winning 9 of his last 10 matches. Ironically, Cobolli’s only loss in this stretch came at the hands of Zverev, who swept him 6-2 7-6(4) 6-1 in the third round of the French Open. On grass, Cobolli’s powerful baseline game is expected to present some degree of difficulty to Zverev, who was tested by another aggressive Italian baseliner in the previous round. I believe Cobolli is quicker and has more oomph to his forehands than Sonego. This subtle difference in their game will stand out in this intriguing quarterfinal duel against Zverev.
Our betting prediction for Alexander Zverev vs. Flavio Cobolli: Flavio Cobolli +3.5 Games
