One of Wednesday’s four UEFA Champions League fixtures sees Club Brugge and Atletico Madrid do battle at Jan Breydel Stadium, where the hosts will be hoping to build themselves an advantage ahead of what will be a difficult second-leg fixture in the Spanish capital of Madrid.
The Belgian hosts are featuring in the UCL knockout playoffs thanks to finishing 19th in the League Phase table, sneaking into the all-important top 24 with a win over Marseille during the final round of games. Diego Simeone’s visitors made it through to the play-offs courtesy of a 14th-place finish, with them ending the eight-game league system three points ahead of Wednesday’s opponents.
