The Texas Rangers (30-32, 15-13 Home) will try to get back on the right side of the scoreboard today when they host the Cleveland Guardians (36-28, 19-14 Away). Fans can enjoy the action on Apple TV once the game gets underway at 8:15 p.m. EST.
Texas’ five-game winning streak ended Wednesday night with a 5-3 loss to St. Louis in the series finale. As for Cleveland, the Guardians missed out on a sweep of the Yankees on the road with a 2-1 loss last night.
Both starting pitchers had solid outings their last time out. Cleveland starter Parker Messick (6-1 with a 2.21 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP) went five innings against Boston on May 30, holding them to five hits and just one earned run while striking out four and walking two. Texas starter Kumar Rocker (2-5 with a 3.54 ERA and 1.32 WHIP) pitched six shutout innings against the Royals, striking out two and walking three.
Rocker has been at his best at home, where he is 1-4 in seven starts with a 2.95 ERA. He’s held opposing batters to a .217 BA and just two home runs. Messick has gone 3-1 in five road starts with a 1.91 ERA and a .229 OBA.

This game is not an easy one to predict. On one hand, Cleveland has the better pitcher that has been hard to hit and doesn’t give up too many runs on the road, but Texas has been hitting the ball well (.280 BA over the last week). But Texas has a starter who is kind of a Jekyll-and-Hyde type. He’s had solid outings, like his last one. However, he’s also been hit hard and chased early, too. I like two bets for this game: the UNDER because both pitchers have been good of late, and I don’t trust the Guardians' lineup to go off against Rocker. But I’m taking the Texas moneyline, because this is a winnable game for Texas at home and I like the price.
