The Texas Rangers will go for a series sweep of the Cleveland Guardians today when the two teams face off at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX. Fans can follow the action once the game gets underway at 2:35 p.m. EST. Texas came into the series having lost three of their last four in Kansas City. But they were able to bounce back Friday with a 4-3 win and then dominated the Guardians on Saturday, 10-0. Cleveland has lost five of its last six entering this series and has now lost four in a row.
The Guardians will hope Gavin Williams can help them turn things around. Williams has gone 8-4 in 25 starts this season with a 3.24 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and .215 OBA. He’s gone 3-2 in 12 road starts with a 3.31 ERA and a .214 OBA. Williams pitched a shutout in his last road outing (Aug. 18, @ Arizona), going 5 1/3 innings and giving up four hits. As for the Rangers, Texas will hand the ball to Merrill Kelly to start the day. Kelly has gone 9-7 in 26 starts this season with a 3.35 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and .208 OBA. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Williams outpitch Kelly, but I doubt he’ll get sufficient run support; Cleveland has scored just 17 runs across their last six games; Texas has scored 39 in their last seven. The runline is tempting since you can get it at +1.5 for Texas, but the moneyline has more value.
