The Guardians are just three games out of the final wild card, while the Rangers, due to their recent losing streak in their last four series, are practically eliminated, despite having one of the most consistent starting pitchers in MLB. These teams will face each other in another series at Globe Life Field starting Friday.
Of course, the Rangers' losing streak doesn't matter as much in games pitched by Eovaldi, their best pitcher, with an elite 1.76 ERA this season and a Cy Young Award candidate. Even during the losing streak, the Rangers won each of Eovaldi's last five appearances.
Meanwhile, the opposite is true for the Guards' starting pitcher on Friday, Cecconi, who didn't earn a win in any of his last five outings.
On Thursday, while Guardian rested, the Rangers' pitching again couldn't contain Pasquantino's bat in Kansas City, in a series where the Rangers allowed four home runs to the Royals' player.
