The 3-game series between the Minnesota Twins (44-47) and the Cleveland Guardians (47-44) will begin tonight at Target Field. The two AL Central division rivals are currently separated by just 3 games as they are also battling the Chicago White Sox for supremacy in the division.
The Guardians were close to making up all the necessary ground to the White Sox in their previous series, which came against them. They won their 1st two games but fell in the final two and ended with a 2-2 split of the 4-game series. Now, they will get an opportunity to put some space between themselves and these Twins that are creeping up the standings.
Minnesota is 5-2 over their last 7 games and is eager to get this chance to get even close to the top of the division with this series against Cleveland. They took 2 of the last 3 games in their series with the Yankees and were able to hold a tough New York lineup under wraps for the most part. They allowed just 10 total runs over the 3-game set.
Joey Cantillo of the Guardians and Taj Bradley of the Twins are slated to start this opening game of the series. Both starters have looked good lately and are likely to be tough to put up runs on here.
