The Cleveland Guardians (68-49 SU, 58-59 ATS) conclude their series with the Minnesota Twins (65-51 SU, 56-60 ATS). The Guardians come off a badly needed win, as they hadn’t been playing particularly well heading into the Twin Cities. Cleveland now holds a lead of just 2.5 games in the AL Central, which looks like it’s going to be a dogfight to the final day.
Cleveland got back on track by besting Minnesota 2-1 on Saturday, and it seems to have the right matchup here. Tanner Bibee has a history of performing well against Minnesota, holding the Twins to three runs or less in his past five starts against them. As long as the bullpen is back on track, the Guardians have an edge with him on the mound.

Whether Minnesota can cut further into Cleveland’s lead depends on whether the Twins can get a strong performance out of David Festa. Festa did not pitch well in his first stint in Minneapolis this season, but he seems to be a stronger pitcher after his return to Triple-A Saint Paul.
In three starts since being recalled from Saint Paul, he’s given up a total of three earned runs. If he can keep that up, he’ll give his team a chance to win. But the Minnesota bullpen isn’t as good as Cleveland’s. If Festa allows a couple runs and Bibee pitches as he usually does against Minnesota’s lineup, the Twins aren’t going to get opportunities to get back in the game. This appears a low-scoring game, and that favors the Guardians. Our prediction for Cleveland vs. Minnesota is for the Guardians to win.
