Two teams that far exceeded expectations in the AL Central meet on Opening Day when the Guardians and Royals face off after both were eliminated by the Yankees in the 2024 Playoffs.
The Royals' starting staff had an excellent first stretch of the 2024 season, led by Cole Ragans, who will be given the pitch in the opening game at Kauffman Stadium. Despite both teams having excellent seasons at home, the visiting team has won six of their last seven games against each other in the Royals-Guardians games in 2024.
Of course, it's a tough lineup Ragan will face on Opening Day. Jose Ramirez is expected to have another stellar season in 2025, after the third baseman not only drove in 118 runs but also stole 41 bases in 2024. Ramirez is expected to be the No. 2 hitter this season, batting behind Kwan.
The Royals' SS fell short, surpassed only by the Yankees' Judge, to win the MVP in 2024, and in the bookies, Witt Jr. this time started as the second favorite to win the MVP.
