The Cleveland Indians (78-59) and Kansas City Royals (75-63) begin a 3-game series Monday afternoon. This will also begin a 9-game road trip for the Indians as well. These teams met just a week ago in Cleveland where the Royals took 3 out of 4 games in the series. Since that 4-game set, the Indians took 2 out of 3 games in their following series against the Pirates. For the Royals, the loss in game 4 to the Indians began a losing streak that extended to 5 games after losing 7-2 and being swept in their 4-game series with the Astros. In the Astros series, the Royals had only averaged 2.25 runs per game and were outscored by 12 runs. Today, the Royals will look to veteran Michael Wacha (11-6, 3.50) to help them snap out of the losing streak. He last pitched against these same Indians and things did not go well. He was tagged for 5 runs on 9 hits over 6 innings of work. He was lucky to not factor into the decision as the offense did enough to keep the game close. For the Indians, Gavin Williams (2-7, 4.99) is will be on the bump. His last outing also came against the same lineup he is facing today. He went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits but unfortunately took the loss as the Indians fell 6-1.
