Wednesday night in Comerica Park, the 3rd game of a 4-game series between the Detroit Tigers (43-39) and the Cleveland Guardians (57-33) will take place. Game one was a pitching duel as the game was scoreless into the 9th inning. The Tigers were lucky enough to sneak out a 1-0 victory on a Mark Canha fielder’s choice that scored Jake Rogers. In game two, the bats came alive, the teams combined for 17 runs and the Guardians picked up the 9-8 victory. Josh Naylor went 3-4 with 4 RBIs in the win. For game three, the Guardians turn to Tanner Bibee (7-3, 3.67) while the Tigers will throw Reese Olson (3-8, 3.22). Bibee is coming off his 3rd loss of the season. He only lasted 4.2 innings against the Giants and allowed 4 runs on 6 hits. Olson is coming off his 3rd win of the season. He held the Reds to just 1 earned on 3 hits and whiffed 8. The Guardians have a decided advantage when it comes to offense as they rank 7th in the league in total runs compared to the Tigers who rank near the bottom at 28th. It will be up to Olson to try and keep that hungry lineup under wraps early.
