The Guardians beat the White Sox 9-5 on Friday, in a victory even more valuable after the Yankees lost to the Astros. This leaves Cleveland just one game away from the Yankees' final wild card, and pushing for the postseason, despite parting ways with key players at the trade deadline and losing their star closer to an investigation, seems a very real possibility for the Guards.

In another tremendous offensive effort from the starters on Friday, the lineup responded to the fact that Kwan, Naylor, and Ramírez alone only allowed one hit; Manzardo and Santana responded for them; both had two hits in the 9-5 victory. Tanner Bibee, despite being charged with four ERs and throwing four walks, cruised into the fifth inning with seven strikeouts. With this, the White Sox accumulated another four-game losing streak, despite scoring three or more runs in all four games of each of those losses.

Sox fans remain focused on their young talent, Colson Montgomery; he didn't contribute much in their previous series against the Mariners and went 1-for-4 in Game 1 against the Guardians, but between July 28 and August 5, his bat produced five home runs.
