The most anticipated game on Tuesday was undoubtedly the Cavaliers' game against the defending champion Celtics in Cleveland. It ended in a Celtics road win in a game that had close betting action leading up to the start of the game. A rather poor first quarter by the Cavs condemned Cleveland to chase the Celtics all game long, and despite the game being tied in the last 3 quarters, the 13-point lead in the first quarter was well managed by the Celtics until the end. Perhaps the Cavaliers should have attempted more three-pointers as the Celtics outshot them by 9 more than them, even with the Cavaliers' late long-range attempts to try to get back into the game at the end.
Still, Donovan Mitchell had another great night scoring 31 points and collecting 10 rebounds. The Cavs have little time to rally as they face the Pistons in Detroit on back-to-back nights with a 6-3 record after losing and 8-2 on back-to-back nights.
In Cleveland, the Cavaliers hosted and beat the Pistons on January 27, comfortably covering the betting handicap of -10.5, where the Cavs held Cunningham to 22 points.
