The Cavaliers capped off a very productive February, winning 8 of 11 games. The addition of veteran James Harden proved to be a success, as Cleveland won six of seven games since he joined the team. However, a fractured thumb sidelined the 36-year-old, who missed the game against the Pistons. This injury comes at a particularly serious time, as Donovan Mitchell missed the Cavs' last two games with a groin injury, and Keon Ellis and Dean Wade are also among the Cavs' absentees.
Even so, the Cavs remained competitive against the Eastern Conference-leading Pistons (44-14), forcing overtime, which they ultimately lost by a few points, 5-8. The final score was 119-122, with the offensive duo of Jarrett Allen and Mobley combining for 48 points.
Meanwhile, the Nets are near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. For them, a nightmarish February came to an end, but they carry a seven-game losing streak into March 1st after being absolutely crushed by the Celtics at TD Garden. Brooklyn lost 148-111.
