The Cleveland Browns (1-4 SU, 1-4 ATS) face the Philadelphia Eagles (2-2 SU, 2-2 ATS) in a matchup of a pair of disappointments in the early going. The Browns have managed one win over Jacksonville, but have otherwise really struggled to compete. Cleveland’s offense has looked completely lost week after week, and the Browns now rank dead last in moving the football.
Philadelphia’s defense has been middling at best, and its best form of points prevention has been to keep the ball away from the opponent. The Eagles excel at chewing up yardage, ranking sixth overall in running the football. Saquon Barkley has proven a fine addition to the offense, and in a game like this, he might be the Eagles’ best path to a win.

Usually, the points wouldn’t be a trend worth caring about in this matchup, given that the teams only play once every four years and thus don’t meet often enough for a trend to matter. But both teams have had so many struggles on offense that it actually makes sense in this game. Cleveland hasn’t shown that it can move the ball on anybody, and Philadelphia will be trying to take the air out of the football.
The Browns appear to be one of the worst teams in the NFL, and the offense really isn’t getting any better. Unless Philadelphia decides to get creative and air it out, points shouldn’t be a big part of this matchup. Given that Philly just needs to get a win, creativity probably isn’t happening here.
