The Cleveland Browns visit the New England Patriots, who seem to be hitting their stride at the right time. New England suffered through a couple of difficult years after Tom Brady shifted to Tampa Bay, but the Patriots have now won five of six and are leading the AFC East.
More impressively, and strangely, they’ve done most of their damage away from Foxborough. Only a rout of Carolina came at home; New England has gone 4-0 away from home and 1-2 on its turf. The Patriots have a chance to make a statement here in front of their fans, as they haven’t played at home since September. Given how difficult the past few seasons have been for New England, that’s likely to be a pretty decent motivator.

There’s a stigma with the Browns as they are: road kill. Cleveland has lost 11 in a row away, dating back to Sept. 15, 2024 at Jacksonville. The Browns also haven’t been competitive in the majority of those games, losing their past six away games by double digits.
Last week, the Browns actually looked very good in crushing the Dolphins, but Miami appears to be in a total free fall right now. Against competent teams like Pittsburgh, Detroit and Minnesota, Cleveland couldn’t break 20 points. In fact, the game with the Dolphins is the only time all year the Browns have gotten above that number. Given the Browns’ issues away from northeast Ohio and the fact that the Patriots are clicking, this looks like more misery for the visitors. Our prediction for Cleveland vs. New England is Patriots -7.
