The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds are set to kick off a crucial three-game series on Monday at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers, who are 5-1 in their last six home games, are listed -145 favorites on Caesars Sportsbooks.
The Dodgers refused to get swept by the San Diego Padres as reigning World Series MVP Freddie Freeman stepped up big time, belting two home runs to lead Los Angeles to an 8-2 win over their NL West rivals. The Dodgers may have lost the series but the win allowed Los Angeles to share the No.1 spot in the division with the Padres at 74-57.
The Reds snapped a three-game losing skid after capturing a 6-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. After surrendering a total of 16 runs in the first two games of the series, Cincinnati tightened up their pitching in Game 3, surrendering one earned run on 2 for 29 hitting. The Reds sit in third in the NL Central with a 68-63 record and fourth in the NL Wild Card race, trailing the 69-61 New York Mets by 1.5 games.

All-Star sluggers Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts are good to go, ready to inflect heavy damage with their big bats. Emmett Sheehan, the scheduled starter for Monday, has allowed a total of nine earned runs over his last two starts (both on the road). Sheehan’s pitching numbers might have been subpar lately, but I expect the Dodgers pitcher to bounce back with a better showing on Monday because always pitches well at home (3.71 ERA at home).
As for Cincinnati, they are 3-9 in their last 12 games when playing on the road against LA Dodgers. The Reds have posted a strong 3.89 ERA in their last five games, but they are only averaging 3.6 runs per game in this stretch. Cincinnati tapped Hunter Greene (5-3, 2.63 ERA) to start on Monday, five days after surrendering 3 runs over 6.1 innings in a 6-4 win over the Angels. Although Greene can deliver a dominant performance on the mound, especially if he gets into his zone, the Reds will need to produce more than their average runs per game (4.0 runs) to have any chance of beating a high-powered squad like the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
