United States of America takes on China (3-4) in a FIBA Women's World Cup game on Thursday, September 4, at Max-Schemeling-Halle in Berlin, Germany.
Team USA has won all 15 of its official FIBA games against China, including two double-digit victories back in 2022. In their most recent game, the Americans emerged victorious with an 83-61 win, led by A'ja Wilson's 19 points and Kelsey Plum's 17.
However, those two top scorers have been sidelined in this year's World Cup. Wilson withdrew for health reasons, while Plum is still recovering from a lower leg injury. Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron, both playing for the Washington Mystics in the WNBA, were added as replacements.
Still, this USA team is a very formidable one. Their roster is nothing short of star talent, led by the likes of Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier, Caitlin Clark, and Paige Bueckers.
The Stewart-and-Clark connection will be exciting to watch. Stewart, a two-time WNBA Most Valuable Player, is averaging 20.4 points and 8.1 rebounds this season. Clark, who is an offensive dynamo, is putting up 22.5 points and 8.4 assists.
As for China, they pin their hopes on the 6-foot-9 Xu Han, who is Stewart's teammate in the New York Liberty.

Our USA vs China Prediction
USA is still the team to beat in this year's FIBA Women's World Cup, but they will surely miss the services of A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum. Wilson and Plum begged off due to health reasons, stripping the team of two capable scorers.
They're still the favorites on Thursday, but China might keep this game interesting. They have the 6-foot-9 Xu Han to rely on. Our prediction for the USA vs China match is: China (+29.5) cover the spread.
