The Chicago White Sox (28-88) finally snapped their 21-game losing streak against these Oakland Athletics (47-68). We were on the wrong side which ruined our possibly 3-game sweep as we were on the over of the Atlanta and Boston games. Credit goes to Jonathan Cannon who pitched 6 innings and allowed just 1 run on 6 hits. The offense was led by Andrew Benintendi, who went 2-4 with a home run and scored twice while knocking in 2 runs as well. The lone run for the A’s was courtesy of a home run from Zack Gelof. It will be interesting to see how the White Sox respond after finally breaking the skid. Tonight, they will have Davis Martin (0-1, 7.11) on the mound. Martin will be making just his 3rd start of the season and he has yet to get past the 4th inning. Last outing, against the Twins, he went 3.2 innings and allowed 4 runs on 6 hits. He has also walked 3 batters in each of his starts this season. For the A’s, Joey Estes (5-4, 4.77) will be starting. He was formidable against the Dodgers in his last start. He finished with 6 innings of work and held the Dodgers to 2 runs on 2 hits.

Chicago is dead last in almost all offensive categories and these A’s are boom or bust at the plate. They are 4th in the league in homeruns but 22nd in total runs and do not hit for average as they are currently 26th in the league there. So even if they are to homer, chances are they will be solo shots like Gelof’s last night. We see a quite night at the plate for both squads.
