For the White Sox, who lost 121 games in 2024, the start of 2025 is already off to a discouraging start. Their record through the first 10 games of the new season is 2-8, and even Smith's no-hitter until the sixth inning didn't help, as the White Sox offense also had a poor night, allowing just three hits.

The White Sox starter in Game 2 will be Sean Burke, who had a solid Opening Day in Chicago, pitching six innings without allowing an ER, but then struggled at Target Field against the Twins, allowing six ERs in 4.1 IP.
