The Boston Red Sox (70-70 lost their final game of the month of August and things only got worse for them in September. They have lost 4 straight games since beginning the month and now get to go home and face the worst team in the league in the Chicago White Sox (32-109). The White Sox are coming off a rare win that snapped a 12-game losing streak. They defeated the Baltimore Orioles 8-1 on Wednesday. Nicky Lopez went 3-4 with a homer in the win for the White Sox. The Red Sox latest loss was an 8-3 beating from the Mets. Tonight, they will throw Nick Pivetta (5-10, 4.53) in hopes of snapping their losing streak. He is coming off a start against the Tigers in which he went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs on 6 hits. The White Sox will turn to Davis Martin (0-3, 3.62) as they try to win back-to-back games for the 1st time in over 2 months. Martin pitched a solid 5 innings against the Tigers two starts ago but did not fair as well in his latest start against the Mets. He lasted just 5 innings and allowed 4 runs on 5 hits and took his 3rd loss of the season.

The White Sox lineup is the worst in the league and is near the bottom in all offensive categories. Pivetta has not been tremendous but should be able to navigate his way through this weak lineup. The Red Sox bats have not been hot and now they face Davis Martin who is 0-3 but does have a very respectable ERA. We believe he will keep the Red Sox hitters quiet and Boston should win a lower scoring game here.
