The are in jeopardy of being swept in their 4-game series with the San Francisco Giants (39-42) on Thursday. They have lost 2 of their 3 games in this set by a single run with the opener of this series being what has presented itself as a back-breaker to this point. Leading 4-2 in the bottom of the 9th of game one, Drew Smyly allowed a sac fly to tie the game before walking in the game winning run-on Wilmer Flores. For game four, the top pitcher for the Cubs, Shota Imanaga (7-2, 2.96) will be tasked with holding the Giants from getting the sweep. He hopes to turn things around after getting shelled for 10 runs on 11 hits in just 3 innings against the Mets in his last start. The Giants are going with Jordan Hicks (4-4, 3.24) who is also coming off a rocky start of his own. He struck out just 1 while walking 3 in his start against the Cardinals. He allowed 5 earned in just 4 innings of work and picked up his 4th loss of the season.
