San Diego Padres vs Chicago Cubs Prediction & Picks - MLB

The San Diego Padres (19-9, 10-4 Home) will try to keep the good times on track at home when they host the Chicago Cubs in Game Two of a three-game series. First Pitch at Petco Park in San Diego, CA, is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. EST with coverage provided by MLB.TV.

San Diego won an exciting game yesterday, 9-7, that featured 22 hits along with three home runs.  But the victory may have come at a price, with slugger Manny Machado leaving the game early due to an unspecified injury. His status is officially DTD (day-to-day).

The Cubs are scheduled to hand Edward Cabrera the ball to start the day. Cabrera is 2-0 in five starts with a 2.73 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. In 54 career at-bats against the Padres lineup, he has held them to a .167 BA (9-54) with no home runs, 14 strikeouts, and one RBI. He surrendered six hits (two home runs) and five runs (three earned) in his last start (April 23 vs. Philadelphia).

San Diego will hand the ball to Walker Buehler to start the day.  Buehler has had a rougher start to the season, going 1-2 in five starts with a 5.75 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP. He didn’t even last three innings in his last start, getting pulled after 2 2/3 vs. Colorado and giving up eight hits and four earned runs.
