Chicago came into yesterday’s game having lost their last two at home to the Phillies. Shota Imanaga got the Cubs off to a solid start, scattering six hits over five innings before giving way to the bullpen. The Pittsburgh lineup managed just one more hit over the last four innings while the Chicago lineup tacked on five more runs to make the final 9-0. The Cubs will look to Matthew Boyd to get the team going today on the mound. Boyd is 2-2 on the season in five starts with a 2.54 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. He got hit hard by the Dodgers in his last outing (ten hits, one home run across six innings), giving up six runs (three earned), but got plenty of run support from his lineup and got the win. Pittsburgh is scheduled to start Carmen Mlodzinski, who is 1-3 across five starts with a 6.95 ERA and 1.82 WHIP; he has yet to last more than five innings.
