Some dismiss the Cubs' nine-game winning streak as a mirage, since during that time they faced two powerful MLB teams at Wrigley Field, the Phillies and the Mets, who have been inexplicably struggling and continuing to lose. But Chicago seized this opportunity. They won the final game of the four-game series against Philadelphia with a walk-off single by Swanson. In that game, Javier Assad earned the win, while the Cubs racked up 18 hits and won 8-7, much to the delight of the fans. Cubs fans were even more thrilled to learn that Suzuki is heating up; He started off cold, but the Japanese slugger hit home runs in his last three games.
