The Chicago Cubs (31-32 SU, 29-34 ATS) look to maintain their hold on second place in the NL Central as they visit the Cincinnati Reds (30-33 SU, 35-28 ATS). The Cubs' biggest problem has been their play inside their own division, as they've gone just 7-13 against the NL Central. That includes a 1-3 record against Cincinnati, which won the opening game of the series Thursday.
Chicago has seen a fair amount of runs scored lately, as it hasn't allowed fewer than five runs in any of its past eight games. The Cubs' biggest problem with their pitching and defense is that their defense is wedded to the three true outcomes. Chicago ranks third in the majors in strikeouts, but the Cubs have more walks than anyone in the NL Central.
