The surging Chicago Cubs face the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park on Thursday in the final game of what has been a hugely intriguing series so far.
In game one, Cubs' pitcher Matthew Boyd enjoyed a stellar evening, as he recorded six shutout innings and seven strikeouts. That outstanding performance by Boyd helped Chicago secure a 5-2 victory despite a valiant defensive effort from the Orioles.
The second game of the series saw the Cubs hit five homers (including two from Pete Crow-Armstrong) to overcome a strong Baltimore offensive display that featured two homers from Tyler O'Neill.
As a result of those two victories, the Cubs are now in one of the National League wild card positions, but such is the tight nature of this season's NL, a slip up on Thursday could see them overtaken by both the Marlins and Phillies.
