The Chicago Bulls kick off their 2026-27 NBA season today north of the border against the Toronto Raptors. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, ON, with coverage via NBA League Pass.
Chicago will have its eyes set on making the playoffs this season after missing out last year with a 31-50 record (12 games back for the last play-in spot). They last made the postseason in 2021-22 but were eliminated in the first round. As for Toronto, hopes are high after the acquisition of Kawhi Leonard during the offseason. Last season, the Raptors went 46-36 and were the No. 5 seed in the playoffs.
Toronto will have a solid starting group with Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and Jakob Poeltl returning, plus the addition of Leonard (Brandon Ingram and Gradey Dick moved on). With an experienced group that is solid on the perimeter defense and capable shot creators, they will be tough to beat on any given night.
Chicago projects as more of a work in progress this season. They’ve got a talented young duo returning in Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis, plus a new head coach in Tiago Splitter. They also added Norman Powell via free agency and Nic Claxton (trade), and drafted Caleb Wilson with the No. 4 pick out of North Carolina.

Chicago already had a deficit in this matchup because of limited experience and overall talent. But they’ll be behind the 8-ball a little more with Nic Claxton out with a hamstring injury. While Toronto is certainly the better team on paper and should win, the Bulls could keep this one within the spread. However, I’d have to call the total a better bet. While the public is leaning toward the OVER, I’m going with the UNDER. Chicago’s offense has talent but will be a work in progress overall with new players and a new head coach. Toronto, on the other hand, is a solid defensive team and will make that apparent tonight.
