Two English giants are feeling the pressure, but only one will leave Stamford Bridge happy after Matchday 9 of the Premier League when Chelsea hosts Manchester United.
The Blues, who are absent from European competitions this season, began Xabi Alonso's tenure as Chelsea manager with victories and high hopes, but that feeling has faded, especially after losing the London derby at home to Tottenham 0-2 in the last match, a game in which Palmer was also sent off. This means Chelsea are having their second-worst start to a Premier League season since 2015.
Even so, Chelsea appears to be in a better position than Manchester United, who are once again in crisis. Their embarrassing defeat in Italy is considered a Champions League hurdle, followed by an equally embarrassing 0-3 loss at Old Trafford to Bournemouth. Manager Michael Carrick's job was left hanging by a thread, but surprisingly, the board decided to give him one more game, even amid rumors of a rift in the dressing room, fueled by Bruno Fernandes' criticism of the English manager's tactics.
