An explosive first-round showdown is set to erupt on Day 2 of the 2025 US Open Championships as Sebastian Korda of the United States goes up against Cameron Norrie of Great Britain on Monday.
Listed as -215 favorites on DraftKings, Korda is coming off a semifinal run at the 2025 Winston Salem Open. A stress fracture in his right shin forced Korda to miss the grass-court season and several hard-court events during the North American swing of the ATP Tour, including the Washington Open, where he was supposed to defend his title. At Winston-Salem, Korda picked up wins over Vit Kopriva 6-3 6-4, Kamil Majchrzak 6-7(3) 6-3 6-4 and Miomir Kecmanovic 6-1 6-4 before withdrawing from his semifinal duel with Marton Fucsovics.
Meanwhile, Norrie is trying to break his three-match losing skid in Monday’s clash with Korda. Norrie, who reached the quarterfinal of the 2025 Wimbledon Open, lost to Brandon Nakashima 7-6(3) 6-3 in the third round of the 2025 Washington Open before dropping his opening matches against Aleksandar Vukic 6-3 6-7(2) 6-3 and Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4 6-3 at the Canadian and Cincinnati Open respectively.

Take Sebastian Korda to cover -4.5 games. I am predicting Korda to post a convincing win over Norrie, whom he has beaten in 3 out of 4 head-to-head meetings. A stress fracture injury in his right shin had sidelined Korda for months, causing him to miss several big events on the ATP Calendar. Korda made a triumphant return at the Winston-Salem Open, where he registered three impressive wins before conceding the semifinal match to Marton Fucsovic because of illness, which has nothing to do with the injury in his right shin.
Norrie is not an easy first-round foe for everybody in this competition, mainly because of his caliber as a former top-10 player. However, he enters the US Open championship without any momentum at all after losing his last three matches, including back-to-back opening match losses in Toronto and Cincinnati.
If Korda can replicate the form he showed through the first three rounds at Winston-Salem, taking down Norrie in three sets seems very possible.
