The NBA season has just begun, and the Brooklyn Nets and the Cleveland Cavaliers are both looking for their first wins.
Brooklyn lost their opener to the Charlotte Hornets 110-103. They trailed after each quarter despite shooting a better percentage overall. They allowed 5 Hornets to score in double figures, with Grayson Allen off the bench leading the way with 21. Julius Randle led the Nets with 33 points on 11-of-18 shooting. He was 2 boards and 3 assists from a triple-double. Michael Porter Jr. chipped in with 26 points, but no other Nets player reached 10 or more.
The Cavaliers lost their opener on the road in Philly in an epic collapse. They led by as many as 29 points, but allowed the Sixers to come back and win 114-106. Donovan Mitchell was unstoppable early in the game and finished with 32 points to lead the Cavs. He added 10 boards and 3 assists. Defensively, mainly in the 2nd half, they could not contain the starting 5 of the Sixers. Maxey led with 32, while both Embiid and Brown scored over 20 points. LeBron was efficient with 17 points and 10 boards. The Cavs will not be dealing with a lineup as they did in the Sixers, but Porter Jr. and Randle are certainly not to be slept on.
