Manchester City won their Premier League opener by thrashing Wolves 4-0 at Molineux Stadium, but Guardiola failed once again to beat Tottenham. In Matchday 2, the Citécenz had started as -196 favorites to beat Spurs, but ended up losing thanks to goals from Johnson and Palhinha.
Tottenham's goals in Manchester were due to inattention at the back; first, the back line was too high, which Tottenham exploited with a furious counterattack. Then, goalkeeper Traffod looked uncertain and made a misplaced pass that resulted in the second goal, leaving Guardiola clutching his head.
But heading into the match against Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Matchday 3, Manchester City has reason to be confident. The first is that, despite losing on their last visit to the Amex Stadium, also there in 2024, they managed to thrash the Seagulls 4-0 the previous time.
Another reason is Manchester City's impeccable recent form in Premier League away matches, impressively failing to concede a single goal in their last six visits.
