Day 2 of the main draw of the 2025 HSBC Championships will feature the showdown between big hitters Brandon Nakashima of the United States and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard of France on Tuesday.
Nakashima took his campaign in Stuttgart into the quarterfinal round, where he lost to world’s No.3 Alexander Zverev of Germany 5-7, 4-6. The American had ousted Jacob Fearnley of Great Britain 4-6 7-6(4) 6-1 and compatriot Learner Tien 7-6(5) 6-3 before putting on a decent show against the top seed in the last 8.
Mpetshi-Perricard picked up only one win in his first grass-court tournament before succumbing to Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada 4-6, 4-6. Standing 6-foot-8, Perricard is a giant and a force to reckon with as far as firing big serves is concerned. The Frenchman fired 26 aces in his win over Roman Safiullin of Russia before winding down with 8 aces against Auger-Aliassime.
