As the highly anticipated Club World Cup kicks off in its exciting new format, the Seattle Sounders will be one of three MLS teams competing and the second to play after Inter Miami, which debuts at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Saturday. The Seattle Sounders have a competitive advantage over the other 31 teams in the competition: they will be the only team playing their home games at their home stadium, Lumen Field in Seattle, where they will play their three Group B matches against Botafogo, Atletico Madrid, and PSG.
However, playing at home doesn't necessarily mean the Seattle Sounders are favored by the betting establishment. On the contrary, Botafogo is the favorite to win the match with odds of more than 50%, a trend that clearly suggests bookmakers believe the MLS team will finish last in Group B.
Botafogo qualified directly for this Club World Cup after beating Atlético Mineiro 3-1 in the 2024 Copa Libertadores final, while Seattle Sounders qualified by winning the 2022 Concacaf Champions League.

Botafogo - Seattle Sounders: Form Analysis
Botafogo arrives in the United States in the middle of the 2025 season, and more specifically, arrives at Lumen Field after winning its last three matches. For the 2025 Copa Libertadores, where they will defend their 2024 crown, Botafogo is in second place in Group A, tied with Estudiantes de la Plata. In their last international club match, they defeated Universidad de Chile 1-0. Furthermore, although they are eighth out of 20 in the Brazilian Serie A, having conceded only seven goals, Botafogo is the second-best defense in the Brazilian first division.
Meanwhile, the Seattle Sounders are sixth out of 15 in their MLS season. They had a poor start, going winless in their first four matches.
