Another chapter will be written in one of the greatest rivalries in sports this Friday evening in Bronx, New York. The New York Yankees (54-35) who trail the Baltimore Orioles by 2 games in the AL East, will play host to their bitter rivals, the Boston Red Sox (47-39) who trail them by 5.5 games in the same division. This will be the 2nd series between the teams this season. After losing the 1st game 8-1, the Red Sox bounced back and took the next two to win the series at home over the Yankees. They put up 8 and 9 runs respectively in those final 2 games. The Red Sox are coming off a 3-game sweep of the Marlins in their last series and the Yankees had the opposite fate as they were swept by the Reds. Tanner Houck (7-6, 2.67) will face Nestor Cortes (4-7, 3.51) in the opening game of this 3-game set in New York. Houck was belted for 7 runs on 9 hits in 4.1 innings of work against the Padres in his last start. Cortes faired a bit better but still took a loss to the Blue Jay in his last go around. He allowed 3 earned on 7 hits in 4.1 innings.
