The final game of the series between the Houston Astros (4-2) and Boston Red Sox (1-4) will take place this afternoon in Houston. The Astros have already taken the first two games of the series, both in blowout fashion. Lance McCullers Jr struck out 9 through 7 innings to pick up the win in game one. While the offense was led by Jose Altuve, who went 4-4 with 2 home runs. In game two, Yoran Alvarez and Cam Smith each homered while Hunter Brown struck out 8 in his 6 innings of work to pick up the win.
While the Astros have been dominating in the series thus far, things are not going to be easy in picking up the sweep. They will be facing the ace of the Boston pitching staff. Garrett Crochet is coming off an 8-strikeout performance on opening day, where the Red Sox picked up their lone win of the season. On the hill for the Astros, Mike Burrows will try to bounce back from an ugly debut this season. He was tagged for 5 runs in 5.2 innings and took the loss against the Angels.
Everything aligns here for the Red Sox to snap their 4-game losing streak and avoid the sweep of the Astros. Boston should be able to get to Burrows in this one, and it could be a matter of scoring a couple of runs to support the strong arm of Crochet.
