The Boston Celtics (57-16 SU, 38-32-3 ATS) look to stop their recent slide against the New Orleans Pelicans (45-28 SU, 40-31-2 ATS) after dropping consecutive games. Boston had been putting things on cruise control when it took a nine-game win streak into Atlanta and built a 30-point lead. Inexplicably, the Celtics collapsed and lost by two, and they followed up three nights later with a second straight loss to the Hawks.
The last time Boston lost two straight, it started the nine-game surge that ended in Atlanta. But there’s a thought that the Celtics could be tapering to prepare for the playoffs. Boston has absolutely nothing at stake other than avoiding a sloppy start in the playoffs, as it will be the No. 1 seed. New Orleans, however, has a lot at stake here. The Pelicans are fighting to get hot and avoid a first-round matchup with the big three of Minnesota, Oklahoma City and Denver. A win here would go a long way toward keeping that position.
