The Boston Bruins look to snap a three-game losing streak as they visit the Utah Mammoth, who haven’t lost at home this season. There’s a real concern for Boston that it’s beginning to come back to earth as its schedule stiffens, given the quality of its opposition over the past three games.
The Bruins won their first three contests, but only Washington was a playoff team a year ago. Once Boston began to face quality opponents such as Tampa Bay, Vegas and Colorado, things quickly went sideways for the Bruins. Boston wasn’t a strong team last season, and it’s starting to look like the early surge might have been a schedule-based mirage. The saving grace for the Bruins has mostly been their offense, but even that was lacking last time out: the loss to Colorado marked the first time all year the Bruins haven’t scored at least three goals.

Our Boston Bruins vs Utah Mammoth Prediction
One of two things is likely to happen here. Either the Mammoth are going to play Boston’s game and break out of their scoring issues, or they’re going to force the Bruins to play their game and lock down defensively. The Mammoth have only allowed 11 goals this season, which ranks third in the NHL.
While Utah hasn’t faced the greatest schedule in the early going, it did slow down Colorado in its season opener. Any time you can hold the Avalanche to just two goals in Denver, you’re doing something right on defense. Utah has been more hit-or-miss on offense, but the defense has been solid. It doesn’t hurt that the Mammoth just put six on San Jose and that the Bruins are ending their road trip here. This looks like a grinder, and that favors Utah. But since the odds on that are terrible (best case 1.44), our prediction is for Under 6 Goals.
