Hamburg closed out their preseason with a 2-1 win against Toulouse and resumed their cup campaign with a 3-0 victory over Verl. Polzin's team secured the win with a brace from Gronbaek and another goal from Lemke. This victory sets the tone for what the fans of this traditional club are hoping for this season. However, it's worth noting that the team's activity in the transfer market was, in reality, quite limited.
