Former US Open champion Biance Andreescu of Canada will battle last year’s Wimbledon Open breakout star Lulu Sun in the second round of the Libema Open on Thursday.
Andreescu kicked off her grass court season with a resounding win over Joanna Garland 6-1, 6-3 in the first round. The Canadian carved out a convincing win by landing 76 percent of her first serves, from which she earned 28 out of 67 total points. Andreescu held 100 percent of her serves while scoring four breakpoints, which allowed her to pull away from her opponent.
Sun arrested her three-match losing streak after topping Anouck Vrancken Peeters of the Netherlands 6-1 6-3. Sun, who reached the quarterfinal of the 2024 Wimbledon Open, won 20 points off her first serves and broke Peeters five times en route to a dominant victory.
