The opening game in Group C of the Club World Cup 2025 sees German giants Bayern Munich take on Auckland City at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. Bayern are among the tournament favorites, and given the fact that their squad boasts the likes of Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala, they are widely expected to make short work of a limited Auckland team.
Joining Bayern and Auckland in Group C are Boca Juniors and Benfica. Given the pedigree of those two teams, qualification looks almost impossible for Auckland, and anything other than three heavy defeats will represent a successful campaign for the New Zealanders. As for Bayern, stiffer tests will await them later in the tournament, but if they can produce a statement win on Sunday, it will put them in pole position to reach the last 16, where they potentially face a huge clash with Chelsea.
