Consequently, Kasper Hjulmand's side are just one point clear of the sides outside of the playoff places, meaning that (depending on other results) a draw on Wednesday might not be enough to seal their progress.
Villarreal's Champions League campaign has been an unmigated disaster. They have picked up just a solitary point from their seven games so far, with only goal difference seperating them from the very bottom of the table. The biggest disspaointment for Villarreal coach Marcelino will be that many of his side's losses have been against teams they would expect to beat, including the likes of Ajax, Copenhagen and Spurs.
