The Baltimore Orioles will try to put Sunday’s embarrassing debacle behind them with a win over the Washington Nationals in D.C. at Nationals Park today. Game time is set for 6:45 p.m. EST. Despite having the same number of wins as the home team, the Nationals, the Orioles are listed as the betting favorite.
Many things went wrong for the Orioles in Sunday’s epic 24-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. The pitching staff gave up 25 hits and 11 walks on the day and held the Reds scoreless in just two innings. It didn’t help that the Baltimore offense could muster just seven hits and a pair of walks. As for the Nationals, Washington is coming off a loss in their most recent outing as well. They got out to a 1-0 lead in the first but couldn’t score another run. Colorado tacked on two in the fourth to take the lead and an insurance run in the 8th.
Dean Kremer is scheduled to get the start for the Orioles. Kremer has struggled a lot this season, winning just two of his four starts. Washington is giving the ball to Mitchell Parker. Parker has been consistent this season, going for 6+ innings in each of his four starts. He has a 2-1 record with an ERA of 1.85.

With how Dean Kremer has pitched for most of the season, I’m not surprised the public is betting heavily on the OVER (94% tickets and handle). But Parker has pitched well all season long, allowing only five earned runs all season. While Kremer has been awful, he had a solid outing in his last start (5 1/3 innings, four hits, one earned run (via a home run)). A good performance by Parker may be enough, but I’m betting on Kremer having a decent day, too.
